Wedding Anniversary weekend

Blimey – 6 years already – would you Adam & Eve it?…

Met up with our 'Northern spaniel chums' – as David & Mandy are delighted to be known – en route to Gloucestershire last Friday, but as it was raining, managed to get not a single photo of our wander round town, emergency purchasing of a rain jacket for Hawksey who'd come out just in a polo top, nor the pub lunch. Ah well, here's to our trip up to Harrogate in July to go to the Great Yorkshire Show with them both.

We headed on to Calcot Manor – supposedly dog friendly but poor Scrumpy was banished to the large bathroom during meals as it was;t quite as canine cool as it might have been – she made up for it with the large paw prints all over the pristine white duvet in revenge.

Managed a nice G&T or two over a game of cards in the garden before dinner – nice to actually have to squint in some sunshine for once.

And lucky Scrumpy made full use of the 200 acres or so of land – having decided to ignore the 'keep your dog on a lead at all times' notices. Well, there wasn't even a pigeon in sight, let alone any sheep or whatever so she had a lovely run to make up for the room incarceration.

Pottered into Tetbury on the Sat – reminder of my old Duchy originals days as there Highgrove shop is still there. Could;t find the old pharmacy where I'd had to buy a spare pair of tights, all those years ago, when I was en route to having lunch with Prince Charles at Highgrove, and managed to ladder mine on the way up. Drove for miles to put them on as I'd been warned that the paparazzi might be following g me – what a plonker, am sure there wasn't a camera in sight.

We did at least find an old sweetie shop to get some fizzy nibbles from and then this fine sheep for a photo opportunity.

And on the Sunday, invited H's nephew Reeve, with his partner Kerry-Anne and their daughter (my great-niece, eek!) over for lunch. And a game of 'Disc Golf' first – basically frisbeeing into chain goals, round the grounds – as H is demonstrating here from far too close a vantage point.

Nice start to a good roast lunch in the sun en famille.
