Vaccine – Result!

So last night we were – unsurprisingly – on the sofa, watching some fairly average film, when the phone rang.

A chum of ours is volunteering at the local hospital, to help deliver the COVID vaccines to the priority groups. And was calling to say that there were a handful of doses of the Pfizer vaccine left over from the day's jabbing – and that if we could get down there in ten minutes we stood a decent chance of getting one.

Lightning change out of pyjama trousers and hunting for proof of ID and NHS number (neither needed) – though I still went in my pyjama top, as no point doing any more faffing when the golden goose calls.

Got down there, pegged it in from the car park and got given a magic paper slip – we were asked a few questions about whether we had COVID currently, any major allergies etc. And 5 minutes later – BOOM – into the vaccine room and within seconds we had both been jabbed.

And you even get a sticker..

We are still slightly reeling from the surprise – sure, we were on the list to be done by 15 Feb, if Bozza's army manage to do what they are promising to do, so to be even luckier than that, and snaffle a 'going to run out by tomorrow, if it doesn't get put to use right now' dose is a complete result. They are saying that there should still be a second dose in 3 weeks' time, but the story on the seems to change from day to day (No second dose at all. Yes, a second dose but in 12 weeks' time. Or still in 3 weeks. Who knows?)

Anyway – nice to have a slightly achy shoulder today, so it must have gone in (brilliantly I kind of jumped when she came at me, as she was faster than I was expecting!)

And we will see re dose two.

It's not a magic panacea that protects all, or some from everything. But it's a good start and here's to more doses hitting everyone else's upper arms as soon as possible too x
