Well, it went pretty well. Was hoping for – get this – two million stem cells per kilo of my weight. Which is one heck of a lot of stem cells I can tell you. After 3 days of being attached to the magic machine for 4-5 hours per day, I got enough for this transplant and 1.43 million towards a second one, so not the 4 million full house we were hoping for, but not a train smash either.
Harvest Highlights:
– Janine trying to entertain me by playing the 'what am I going to pull out of your rucksack next' game (it's a winner!)
– Beating Liz Tinlin at Hangman using 'Juno' as the film title she had to work out – highly recommended, is a tricky one to guess!
– Managing to hold having a pee for 5 hours each day, no mean feat…
Lowlight
– Nurse today taking 4 goes to find a vein, and in so doing hitting my wrist bone with the not tiny needle (yes, while it was in my arm) so much so that the needle come out bent – ay karamba, OW OW OW!
So – onwards towards the Transplant next week – 4 days of 'feeling human' to go and a whole lot of soon-to-be-banned foods to be scoffed before then (runny eggs brunch chez Hatch, Thai dinner Fri eve and must get some prawns in too somewhere….)
Happy Harvest to you all.

Hi Scotty! I have taken heart from Stewart’s bold shedding of his blogger virginity and decided it is time to take the plunge!!
My Christmas was definitely not drug or alcohol free as they were essential for survival – how else do you cope with 14 people including my nutty mother in law and delightful 2 year old grandson? (both behaving in a strangely similar way at times….). In just 10 short days I learnt skills that I had hoped I would never need – extracting peanuts from little nostrils, cooking vegetables that ranged from “crisp and crunchy” to total slop and diplomatically (at first, anyway) explaining to my 21 year old stepson why loud rock music at 3am was not in the best interests of peace and harmony in the household – even if it did have a Christmas theme!
Having waved them all off in the past few days, I am now home alone (Gary went back to Budapest yesterday) and starting to face the joy of packing as the movers arrive on Monday. My enchantment with bubble wrap is without doubt wearing thin. I leave for Hungary on 17th so will sadly not be able to visit you this time – love the sound of the rucksack game – but hope to catch up with you on one of my next visits back to the UK. I will be thinking of you next week and hope that all goes according to plan. If you are in need of any puzzles of any shape or form, just yell. I’m well stocked (and also desperately looking for good homes for all sorts of junk….)
Love

PS – if you do manage to find decent PJs, sell the info. I would pay good money to have something that doesn’t make me look 12 or like a sad member of a brothel!
well….all things considered it sounds like it went well if not pleasant (the needle imagery will still with me for a while…). We’ll definitely come, after checking by text of course. but we can also be spontaneous so send us word if you’d like a visitor at any point.
Are you allowed outdoors during your Feb/March recovery? If so save the 28th of Feb…
Much love,
Margo
Looking forward to coming to see you and taking the edge off your boredom by beating you at UpWords. Sounds like little Lily won’t be allowed in, but she will blow kisses at Auntie Clare from her pram or wherever. And what a brilliant excuse for you not to change any poo-nappies, eh?
Love,
Big Sis
Hi Scotty
Thinking of you every day at the mo. Will come and visit but need to wait til our household is germ free and I can be sure of not passing anything on. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do of help..
