Don't worry – not much to report but thought it might be time for an update.
On the post-transplant front, things are so far still ok. No Paraprotein visible, and Dara band (the good thing that shows the monthly drug is present in my system) is visible.
And in many ways, most health-related things are pretty good, which is rather nice to be able to say. I am less tired than I was in the first half of this year, so only having the odd nap rather than having to settle in for 2 hours kip every afternoon. Thank god, that was a right pain in the ass, as I do now sleep all night as well, so daytime is really not required.
Breathing is much better. Occasional flare-ups, but overall much less hassle with this.
Back is live-able with. Still sore and the lack of flexibility due to the rods & screws is an arse, takes me more seconds than it should to bend down to do up my shoes or pick up the post. A real shame this, as among other things, it means I can never play hockey again. Not much point having a sweeper who can;t actually get down to the floor where the ball is, until 2 minutes after it actually shot past. But I'm trying to suck up being on the sideline every week or two, watching the girls, and having the post-match natter.
And then there is the occasional MM related chore to go through. Last week is was a 2.5 hour PET CT scan (got injected with some radioactive gunk, it travels round the body seeking any inflamed/unusual sites and lights them up like Bonfire Night). Results seem to be ok so far, though I will check it through with Prof when I am next in.
Yesterday's joy was the 6 monthly Bone Marrow Biopsy. Now done under General Anaesthetic as my brain can never forget the first experience of them drilling into my spine before the anaesthetic had actually set in. Haunting screams never to be repeated, despite what I see as slightly withering looks when they say 'oh you're having a general..'
Went in at 5pm and got home at 10pm, although they were suggesting I might like to stay 6 hours after the GA. What till 1am? Um – no, thanks, I'll be off then. Today it's just a bit sore. Will try and walk it off when Jo Close comes shortly to take me, Scrumpy and her doggle Django out for a trot.
So there you go. i have also weaned myself off ALL tablets (well, I am meant to be taking some but I seem fine without them so fuck it). It is much nicer to see our milk as just 'milk', rather than 'oh I need to use that to suck down a pile of drugs', every morning.
Might come back to bite me in the ass, but we will see. So far, so good.
So that's it for now – all pleasantly quiet on the western front and long (please) may it last x
