Hyde Park 10k – tick!

Rather nice to wake up this morning in the safe knowledge that I will never have to 'run' a 10k again..

But yesterday was a triumph, to use a jubilant Helen Vickery's words (similarly astounded that she got round the course, I suspect).

A great turn out from the girls, their friends and random neighbours, work colleagues, brothers etc, clearly a lot of arm-twisting had gone on. So we were a sea of orange t-shirts, the only visible charity as we jostled on the Start line and very obvious as we then ran, jogged, walked and chatted (think that might have been just my merry band of slowies) our way twice round the 5k loop of the Serpentine in Hyde Park yesterday.

Brilliant for me to have had company all the way round – Claire White and Helen V that made ALL the difference – and a bit of Clare Greenwood at the start before she decided we were cramping her running style!

And the sugary cupcake at the finish line – followed by fizz all round – went down oh so well…

Thanks also to the spectators, ranging from Sophie's parents who'd come down from Derby, bless them, to Hawksey and Scrumpy, Janine & Ross, Andy Booth, Caroline Austrie & Caelan etc etc. All shouts of 'get a move on' were v welcome.

Can't quite believe we then undid all that good calorific benefit with a 6 hour celebratory beery stint in the pub and a chicken kebab (minus the bread!) so it's back on a whey protein shake for breakfast this morning in penance…

Huge well done to Soph & Nicky for getting their first event of the Myeloma UK 2014 Challenge underway – very glad that you are doing the next one all by yourselves! (Half Marathon in Old Deer Park in Feb, if anyone who can actually run, wants to join in and raise some sponsorship).
