Just had to go to Bangalore to run a workshop for Unilever Home Care. Flight inbound landed at 3am and the return one had a 3 hour layover in Dubai between 11.30pm and 2.30am, 20+ hours in each direction. Then 2 days in a room with 37 punters, and, luckily, one person from our Singapore office who was called Wanqi. Still highly entertaining to read on an email but it took all my slightly jet lagged brain to remember it was actually pronounce 'wun-cee'…
Such a contrast to the lovely week before that in Ile de Re, although they were actually a very nice bunch, and I learned several things about cleaning.
- The difference between Bio and Non Bio is that unless you have sensitive skin, you should buy Bio, as it definitely washes clothes better
- The dirtiest place you should worry about isn't your toilet – your washing machine is in fact a complete breeding ground for bugs. Think warmth, moisture and limited air flow, especially if you shut the washing machine door post-wash. Welcome to disease, where you think everything is nice and clean.
- If you say 'fabcon' (fabric conditioner) in a deep Indian accent (where the final 'n' isn't well pronounced) it sounds like 'fuck off'.
Ah, the small things that make a 2 day session pass with a touch of enjoyment..
Anyway – SO nice to finally be back home with just normal life ahead. Well, never entirely normal given this is our messed up household, so H started his radiotherapy on Wed last week. A whole 3 sessions down so far, only 36 still to go…
As expected so far, but we've been told that there will be side effects from 2-3 weeks in, and it could be a bit crapper (pardon the pun) than we had perhaps anticipated. And he will get quite tired. So we will just have to see how it goes. A few nights in front of the telly, watching crime series with the dog in front of (hopefully) a newly installed fire at some point, as autumn draws in, not such a bad thing hey? x
