That's it – I can't fob it off any longer. Today is the day that my remission is officially, well & truly and bloody annoyingly over.
I am starting chemo again today, the beginning of what will be an 'interesting ride' – definitely some downs, and with any luck just maybe the odd 'up' to even out the path.
I'm about to head downstairs and take my Dexamethasone tablets – the steroids, dosage of which is ten on each day they are required. Hawksey said 'just think of them as Smarties' – well, I'll try to but I suspect each and every one will feel like I am ingesting steroid moonface and weight gain, not quite as nice as a Smartie. Arse.
And then I'll also shovel in the various back tablets – got about another week of those, then finishing those should lighten the load a bit.
Around lunch I'll be off to Parkside to get my huge bag of all the drugs -and to have my first Velcade injection. Yep, the one that is £2,000 (yes, correct number of noughts!) per shot, so I'd better have it today before it runs out of date.
And then to top it off, the final radiotherapy session. Which will be good to get done, and which I hope will totally wipe out the pain in my sternum that has come back over the past few days – as well of course as obliterate the tumour within. I think I have to wait a few weeks and then get re-scanned, but not quite sure about that yet.
Thank god tonight I am off to the wild and crazy world of Wimbledon Theatre (I do like to travel far and wide) with Liz Tinlin to see a night of show tunes sung by a bunch of different musical theatre louvres. One small bright light in a bit of a shag nasty day. They'd better do plenty from Les Mis or there may be trouble ahead….
Happy Friday folks – will post again when there's anything exciting (I should be so bloody lucky!) to post.
PS Thanks to K Fitter for appearing yesterday with a mountain of Cadbury Mini Eggs to replace the tube that Scrumpy ate – spot on choice, say all my taste buds and both my hips…

Having seen an amateur production of Dick Whittington in a Bristol church hall last week, I hope you get more joy at Wimbledon… xxx
