Well, in about 7 hours I reckon, we'll have been married for a whole year. Just the momentous words 'Wedding Anniversary' sound like they apply more to my parents, people who got married in brocade and dance like Fred & Ginger than it does to us, but I guess today's the day I have to start getting used to it!
All lovely so far – H trumped my attempt at spelling out a love message using leaf fronds on the floor of our villa (ok, there's not a lot of raw materials to use round here – sand??) by having a huge gold balloon in the shape of a massive 1, waiting tied to a breakfast table. Despite my best efforts to sit at the other end of the sand-strewn open air room, there it was that we sat.
Also managed to stump up flowers (no mean feat when they def don't grow on this rocky little atoll), a Happy Anniversary banner put up in our room while we were out at brek and a rather nice prezzie – a 'voucher' for which is printed on paper, as this is our Paper anniversary – which should come to fruition when we get home… Yes, cryptic for now, will let you know more if and when we do it!
I went for the romantic (well, trying) approach and got some chinese lanterns (now shitting myself that the wind is blowing the wrong way and we will set light to one of the all too many thatched bloody roofs knowing my luck, or get done by the Maldivian Eco-Police for posioning a dolphin or something). Main prezzie was – and I know this doesn't sound very wow, but it would be a big change to our lives, and H has been begging for one of these for the last 2 years – a book (paper, geddit) on Springer Spaniels. With a note saying 'Yes', he can have one if he really wants one.
Still not sure Mojo will ever forgive us if we do it, but Mr H really, really wants a Dogular as he calls it, so wifey has decided to buckle (aren't you supposed to compromise once married? Well, here's my one single effort for 2012). He's happily reading up on puppy training while I look for inspiration on female puppy dog names – all suggestions welcome, get those spaniel names a-coming.
Right, off back to the sunbed for the final bit of frying ('ah madam, you are red' said the massage lady, I've just remembered.. So much for the bronzed goddess I was hoping for) – here's to our last day in gorgeous turquoise land thinking back to our wedding (which was rather special I have to say, ah sigh) and we'll be back in Blighty before you know it.

Belated happy 1st anniversary (well, it’s still just about the 13th here!). Sounds like you’ve had a fab time – looking forward to introducing Roo to the imminent Springer!

Happy happy happy happy Anniversary!!! Was thinking about you both a lot yesterday – forgive me that I was too tied up with 7 yr old birthday celebrations to send a message.
How about ‘Uno’ as a dog name (1st anniversary – geddit?!) If only you knew anyone who could run a decent name generator session for you eh?!
Lunch when you get back?
