As ever, managed to time my latest trip to Holland not quite perfectly, missing all the fervent orange furore over the abdication of the Queen in favour of her son by a mere 24 hours – at which point the only proof that Holland had 'gone large' in its understated Cloggy way was an acrylic flag of the new Royal couple's faces in Cathy's garden, whose greatest aesthetic quality was probably its instant flammability.
But good to see the Dutch contingent, and all rather handy as it was at the last minute, off the back of a 'could you run a workshop tomorrow for us in Amsterdam' request from AV. Had it been Nurenberg or somewhere else the answer might well have been 'oooh too busy' but it was an instant 'see the smallest 2 nieces' opportunity so turned into a yes.
And proved all the better as a very long lost old chum of mine was actually in the workshop – the lovely Ed Pilkington from my United Distillers days. Last seen over a mojito in Miami where he's been based for years – and now seen over a plethora of rum bottles (sadly only pictures, none flowing forth with their liquid delights) in the 'Dam. If only all workshops started with a huge hug from a dear mate. Made all the more amusing by seeing the looks on the faces of the rest of the Diageo team('funny, Ed doesn't normally give the foreign facilitator quite such a welcome…')

Nieces loved seeing Auntie Scotty too. So did their mum, especially thanks to Pinky Vodka. Come over again sometime and we’ll get you an orange feather boa – all the rage here. BS xxx
