5 Years – and still here.

Well, I couldn't really let a pretty important date to me go by without just a quick comment.

I actually had to count and double check that I'd got the numbers right, beacuse I can hardly believe that 5 whole years have passed since that shocker of a day – 12th September 2008 – when I received that somewhat shitty piece of news that changed my life. That I'd somehow got a disease that no-one had heard of, one which on paper should never happen to someone like me – and which carried a survival rate of 2-5 years. Especially for me – given a Stage 3B diagnosis out of a possible score of 4. For once, not an area to strive for top marks.. All a bit late in being discovered and not looking at all good.

Anyway – against those lousy odds and in many, many ways totally unfairly (here's to all the Myeloma friends who have died in this oh so precious time) – here I still am.

Five years, and around 1825 days that I have been incredibly blessed to have. And to enjoy. Thoroughly.

Raising my mental glass to all of you, that have made the journey such a trip. In both senses of the word..

Here's to a few more – it may be greedy but it's a feast that I am - even more than usual – exceptionally up for.

x
