Well there were good and less good things about today.
Managed to get my tush up to the Dark Side by 6.50am, so early in fact that I had to ask the car park man to open the barrier. On the good side, the drugs were ready and I was plugged in fast. Drank the half of my milk that I hadn't spilled in the car and dozed off on the bed. Was woken 45 mins later by H calling to see how things were.
'Yep not bad, almost finished the first dose' I managed to say before, oh god no, realising I had seconds to go before being inexplicably sick. A strangely yellow delight, this time round.
Recovered and headed home, where Jane appeared, with a clever exfoliating glove to be tried in my next shower. Yes, I am still flakier than a Flake on a snowflake day.
Good sign was that I pottered for a bit, first time in ages. Tidied stuff up, paid the milk bill, boiled a couple of eggs, threw all the drugs that I'm probably supposed to be taking into the 'drugs cupboard'. Who wants to see Parkside pharmacy bags on every surface? Not me. Then felt all a bit lightheaded, so retreated to my sofa.
But was back up again to – progress! – open the fridge and ferret out the ingredients to an egg mayo sandwich, which I both made and ate. Dog looked very disappointed- think she thought she was into a winner with the crusts at the very least,,
Then it was back to the Ward for the 2pm dose. Moonie appeared for a visit, but wasn't allowed to come in as she's got a cold sore. Cue a distant conversation with her sat in the doorway on a chair, telling each quizzical nurse that came in that she has leprosy.. Cheers for the hat and the trifles, oh infectious one.
Back home by 3.30, feeling bit knackered and with back misbehaving badly. The painkiller that worked so well yesterday has been good at removing the spasms today but is totally beaten when it comes to 'you just moved at a bad angle' sharp pains. It's like the old TV programme where you had to navigate through rooms (was it Crystal Maze?): 'stand on this square, this one, then this one and you'll be fine. But if you step on this one – ha ha – WHITE PAIN FOR YOU, SUCKER'.
And today's new added joy is……… acid reflux. Not sure I've ever had this but all afternoon it's been rising and receding- and it's not nice. So had 1/3 of a lasagne only for dinner as not sure if I'd be seeing it again later. So far, so good.
Got back to PS feeling pretty pooped at 8.45pm, having made the annoying but sensible call to spend the night here, have the 7am IV and then go home. Am just too shagged to go home in between, much as my own bed and a face full of Mojo fur is infinitely preferable.
Good call as they were late with the drug bag, and it's only going to finish at 10.45. Ear plugs are poised and ready, night night folks x
