Week Two out of the house

This week has seen me inhabiting Janine & Ross’s home in Parson’s Green, while my American tennis player has lingered on in Dora Road. Despite being – very handily I thought – knocked out of the Singles on Monday and the Doubles on Wednesday, she and her party (hopefully not literally..) are still in our house.

Luckily it has rained so the garden being watered before I go to the boat tomorrow is less of an issue, but I was hoping to go through the post and check the house is still in one piece. As my Uber to Gatwick comes at a delightful 4.10am tomorrow morning, it’s not looking likely.

In the meantime I had a very nice day at Wimbers with my neighbour Anita, who kindly brought an excellent picnic as I was coolbag-less. Very lucky to see Raducanu and then Alcaraz on Centre, a great draw. Started the day watching my player on Court 8 – amazing how close you can get on the outside courts (somewhat less so from our top of the arena seats on Centre!)

Also spotted Janine on TV several times, doing her Honorary Steward role for the third year now – here, having a break on Centre – the blonde on the right just under the handrail..

On Thursday I had the heady delights of giving Maureen a little party for her 88th birthday, in the care home garden. Ginny, Muriel & I couldn’t quite wake her up in time to blow out her candles, so I’m hoping no-one ended up eating too much white wax, which blended in all too well with the white cake icing.. Interesting that someone apparently fast asleep can still open their mouth and eat small bits of cake…

Popped over to Marlow with Nicky on Sat for an afternoon/night at Soph’s and a long overdue catch up. Good supper out at a tapas place on the river, then a walk in Soph's local woods on Sun morning.

Now having a wild day of chemo, two shoulder injections, tea with my other older lady Jo and then dropping Maddie to Epsom for her holiday at Fiona & Peter's house.

Wish me luck in the sweatbox of Greece – it'll make the mini heatwave here seem like a cool day at the beach x
