Visiting Mum

…Well, I’m kind of in the swing of visiting Mum in her care home in Kent now. The twice a month visits just weren’t enough, either for me or her, so it’s now three times a month. And so far Mr H has come with me on one of these, where we spend the night in a dog friendly pub or hotel, so we can go back and see a Mum on the Sunday as well.

Yesterday was a good day. Scooped mum up around 11.30 and headed into Margate itself. Gave Scrumpy a quick run on the beach and a dip in the sea before she’s no longer allowed from May to October, boo…..

Left her damp and smelling the car out, while we took Mum into Buoy and Oyster, a restaurant that I knew was run by one of oldest niece Jess’s friends, Nadine, so thought we’d give it some business. What a great find! A proper, smart, friendly, well designed restaurant with an excellent sea food menu – very unexpected in the not so fancy surrounds of Margate.. No wonder it recently won Kent Restaurant of the Year. Even had whelks for me and a v good monkfish curry.

Mum noshed her way through her usual mountain of fish and chips, followed by a spicy pear strudel, seemingly fairly content.

And we stayed last night at The Dog at Wingham, nice pub with good food and a warm welcome for Scrumpy. Except from the room below ours, who thought someone was banging on their door… No, just S’s tail whipping round wildly as she was very excited about going for a walk.

Heading back to Yoakley House shortly for Sun morning coffee with Mum, then Home.

And hopefully this week we will hear when we will exchange on the new house. All gone a bit quiet these last few days but I suspect hell is about to be unleashed in the form of a quick exchange and completion, with us on our ten day holiday to India. Scary but hopefully good stuff. We will see x x
