Well, so far it's been pretty straight forward stuff.
I head for the lower ground floor of LCC – previously uncharted territory – get changed and then spend 15 minutes to get all the tattoos lined up while I am on the mega machine, and to have them play a quick game of noughts and crosses with the non-permanent pen on my sternum. Then it's just a couple of minutes of lying there on your god, with a big machine hovering just a couple of inches above you like a James Bond film with a buzzer on, while you wonder fi there actually is some treatment happening or if the whole thing is a wind up..
One more tomorrow, then Mon & Tues. See Dr Phillips on Mon and I gather from piecing together bits of info from anyone I can nail that :
- The radiotherapy goes on working (assuming it is..) for up to 6 weeks post-treatment
- So, no chance of knowing in the short term if its done its thing (apart from if the pain has reduced at all, so far not joy on that front)
Which is all a bit frustrating as all I seem to be hearing from everyone is the old 'wait so see' line – which, given that I've had back and shoulder problems for OVER A YEAR now, and the chest pain for 3-4 MONTHS is all very well for them to say, but bloody troublesome for me to keep living with on a daily basis.
Add in the heart bloke and the distinct lack of any improvement there (5 weeks into treatment now and still puffing like a granny with a v sore chest), it's all a bit of a ball ache.
Still, there doesn't seem to be any alternative so on we plod.
Look forward hugely to the day I can report a positive change to circumstances – now wouldn't it be great if that could be before our big trip away in mid Feb? As ever, here's hoping x
