This Was the Week That Was..

… yet another week that looked remarkably like every other one this year….

Although brightened beautifully by the arrival of an unexpected box, bearing the markings of Mandy & David in Harrogate. Mands has been very busy!!! She knits amazing little outfits for the 6 grandsons, and we wheedled our way onto the list – and these bobble hats magically appeared. Right colours, perfect fit and amazingly not itchy – mine has been out several times  already. Now that's a cracking way to perk up an otherwise very unremarkable week. Thanks Mands!!

Desperate times call for desperate measures – so I hauled my electric bike out for what was supposed to be a 2 hour ride with Mr H. Sadly his idea of an ideal ride length and mine appear to be wildly different – which I realised as we passed about the 5th London bridge, having already been through the common, into and out of Richmond Park and along a seemingly never-ending stretch of the Thames. There were 2 highlights (apart from finally getting home, 3 hours, 21 miles and a set of rigid shoulders feeling like a pole had been rammed across them later). First one was the strange blob I noticed on a slipway down by the waterline as we pedalled by…

I made Mr H come back for a second look and look who we found! Mr Seal was hanging out in what is apparently a favourite spot, judging by the sweet notice suggesting he was to be left in peace..

Pretty bizarre for London, but it did break up the endless trogging….as did having a quick stop to admire the new stand at Fulham Footy club. My, how things of interest have been in bloody short supply of late, if that makes it onto my list!!

And the other highlight was the stop (at last!) for a very recuperative sausage roll and cup of tea by the pond in Barnes. Pretty sure I practically inhaled the pastry, so there's no sign of that in the photo! Don't look too closely at my pretty crappy bike attire…

And lastly – had a great double whammy afternoon fo walks yesterday, down to one of them being moved from the morning. Started off with Greeners in Bushy Park, quite a long trot for us plus Scrumpy and her (ignored) toyboy Smudge. Who then scooted off to meet her daughter Emily with baby Ed in the other corner of the park (so it's not just me who does double walks!)

Had a seamless handover when Curly came along – loving the way that Smudge photobombed us. I hadn't see Curls in aaaaaages (and she appeared with cans of booze in her copious coat pockets), so a cracking natter to round off to another 'nyah' week.

Cheers all! S x
