This Made My Day

I was waiting at home for someone to pop round this afternoon, when the bell rang a bit earlier than I'd expected.

Hauled my sorry ass to the front door, to find a delivery fella standing there with a right old whopping box. The entire thing wrapped in brown paper, like a big old-fashioned present. And with my name writ large across the top.

Rather excited, I opened the top with our new scissors (H 'sharpened' every pair in the house recently, only to discover that they don;t like it… cue the purchase of 8 new sets that actually do work..)

To find this sight inside, a mountain of wrapped up little secret thingies, nestled gently into a bubblewrap mountain.

And what treasures these little packages had inside! SO lovely to unwrap each and every one, and know that they had been hand-picked to raise my spirits – as described simply and perfectly in the card 'we thought you might like a Happy Box'.

Couldn't have come at a better time – I even heard today being described as 'Blue Monday' on the radio earlier and have to say, it's felt pretty bloody blue to me for a while now. Walking the dog this morning was bloody painful and all day has been a bit of an effort not to creep back into bed, so spot on for tip top timing.

So thank you, thank you, thank you to David & Mandy Brigham, our 'spaniel chums' from Harrogate. And how lucky that Harrogate has recently launched its own London Gin (how exactly does that work??!) ready for the softy southerners to try out.

Not sure it's all that good for the diet (the orange nougat has been tested, and one watermelon tube so far… the chocolate's gonna get it before bedtime I reckon.)

People's kindness never ceases to amaze me – you lot out there, you bloody well rock.

And David & Mandy – I massively owe you one.
