The Xmas Plan (aka Who the Hell Knows)

With less than a week to Xmas, here we all are again in the groundhog day conundrum of what may or may not be happening for Xmas and the New Year.

The plan has centred around Cathy's 60th birthday (eek!) on 3rd Jan, and seeing her and the family for the first time in 2 years to celebrate it. Cue all 13 Scott family adults and 2 small nieces, plus '2 greats' being due here for a birthday lunch fest on Sun 2 Jan.

But – Holland went back into lockdown last night – bloody bollocks – so Cathy is still trying to work out if they can get over here on the 27th as planned – and get back again.. The schools are shut till mid Jan, and tests a-plenty have been ordered but who the hell knows what's going to happen there, or here, in the coming 2 weeks?

We have pulled out of various things and are treading carefully, but you never know if you're going to catch bloody Covid at a packed event (which we are not going to anyway!) or from the one person next to you in the Waitrose queue.. H had it back in October, so I'm feeling very much like I'm next on the list and SO don't want to cock up the Xmas plans, while also wanting to have a tiny bit of Xmasssy-ness if at all possible!

We are booked to go to a random Northampton AirBnB for 3 nights post Xmas, while the Clogs settle in here and await their test results (hopefully), then due back at the coot for the first NY together there in a couple of years, so that would be fab.

As they say, 'it's all to play for' – just wish there could be a bit more certainty and it would be SO nice to help Cathy turn the big 6-0 here, rather than at home in Holland, with closed restraurants and only 4 extra people allowed in a house.

Yet again, its a case of 'watch this space' – we'll know more on the 27th, if not before x x
