The Never Ending Builders

So – it was meant to be an 11 week job, starting in mid June. Meaning the lovely Polish builders should have been finished and gone by mid Sept, or even the end of Sept to be fair, as we did add in a couple of jobs in as the work got underway. And who knew that when they sorted the roof leak they would somehow squeeze the top of the house so tightly that it would creak like a giant was on there, and have to redo it all?bouncing

But we do appear to be heading to mid October now – and the work is still, ooh, I'd say 50% done as yet?? Maybe they just really like us, or the dog, or eating their Chicken Cottage early lunch in the sawdust covered dustbowl that has been our 'garden' all summer. Or just leaving the loo seat up and weeing on the floor, or nicking the last of the kettle water, or playing Polish dance music when I'm on the laptop, just to keep me on my toes.

Thought you'd enjoy a few shots of just the downstairs of the house – not a chance of sitting and watching TV, or chilling out in peace and quiet post-chemo (thanks to everyone whose houses and bedrooms we have appropriated of late – Janine & Ross, Jules, the Nurses, and soon to be Soph). Now imagine the same mess on the middle and top floors – no carpet for the last 3 months, having to wear flip-flops everywhere, an office that is swamped under stored furniture, and just Mum resplendent in the one room we are not doing much to – luckily oblivious to it all!

Am sure it'll all be very nice when it's done but man alive – had NO IDEA it would drag on into the bowels of autumn (and quite possibly bloody winter at this point).

Patience, patience, patience (all three of which are not entirely my strong point).

Ah, just love the smell of sawdust and grit on the house wind… x
