And here it was once again, Jane & Janine’s ‘double trouble’ birthday night out up town, as they are both November birthday gals.
We headed out on a blustery Friday night to a top floor cocktail bar near Waterloo, called Circe. Which turned out to not have a lift – why?? – so by the time each of us emerged panting at the top of what felt like eight flights of council-carpark concrete stairs we were ready to tuck into the cocktails at Happy Hour. It was also bloody freezing in there, so we rugged up in the provided blankets and warmed our cockles with a winter margarita.. or six.
From there it was on to Paladar, a Latin American restaurant 5 mins trot away – which was great! Fuelled by 2.5 cocktails at this point, I launched into some Spanish with the staff and we were instantly the best guests of the night, getting hugs at the end and lovely service throughout. Add in the ubiquitous sombreros and some celebratory – and marginally charred – churros and the night was complete. Very good food, and both the birthday chicas seemed to like their bags of prezzies, so a top night out all round.
