Well, mouth no better yet, but got the all important antibiotic in via half a chocolate mousse and a small glass of strawberry milk. That's my food intake for the day. Am still peeling like I've just had a week on the beach with no suncream, trail of flakes in my wake…
Up to Parkside for morning blood test. Saw Prof who says mouth is no better than 3 days ago – agree – so I have to come in for an infusion of some mouth stuff for the next 3 days. I thought he meant admitting me but I can come and go home again and am so desperate that it's a definite yes from me.
First dose due today so have now been on Parkside bed for 4.5 hours and the drug still hasn't arrived. Will need a cannula and up to two hours to drop it in – so frustrating as just want to be at home. Had to be close monitored to check for adverse reactions – nurse in room, obs every 10 mins. Eventually left 7.30pm. Not exactly 'just a blood test', then.
Janine and Ross came for a 'thanks for all your help' roast – a mere 6 hours later than planned due to hospital crap, J sitting with me in companionable silence as I can't talk. They plus H polished off the pork in style. It smelled nice (unusual as most things smell gross to me at the moment) – here's to my first roast once the mouth recovers, maybe next week. Looking forward to feeling a bit better soon.
