Some nice bits…

All this myeloma talk is getting in the way of good old fashioned socialising, far more exciting. So a snapshot of some of the much more enjoyable bits of the last few weeks..

First off, Clare G's birthday, of course involving a few cocktails and a very good dinner out with the girls. Just squeezed it in before she was then off to Jerez for a birthday weekend and Cambodia/Vietnam for a longer holiday. Fab!

Then H & I headed up to the Arsenal – his stamping ground – this time to watch the women play Man Utd, with Janine & Ross. A very good game, amazing that they can now command audiences of 60,000 people when previously women's footy was so under-supported. Made the rookie error of ordering a pint of beer to take to our seats before realising you can't do this at football, as footy people can't be trusted! Bring back the Twickers experience..

Last weekend heralded Mandy & David coming down to stay with us from Harrogate, plus the very precious cargo of little Mabel, their new cocker spaniel. What a total cutey-pops. Luckily Maddie is much more tolerant of puppy chewing and being endlessly followed than Scrumpy used to be, and was an angel with her, apart from a couple of brief rebukes. Clarkie kindly came to puppy sit on Fri eve so we could go to ABBA Voyage, for us the second time. Still an incredibly clever show, think D&M enjoyed it.

Dav & H spend much of the one dry weekend day tarting up the plants in the garden and doing the first Karcher clean of the (nearly) spring across the terrace, patio and path – filthy!! Mands & I huddled up indoors with baby Mabes and the Madster. V good to have them down to us and the next time we'll be able to get and about a bit more with a bigger Mabel.

Yesterday was a different day – went with next door to watch Ellie, their 17 year old, playing Pulse netball against Loughborough Lightning at Brunel Uni. Such a high standard and quite intense, really pretty different to how we used to play 'back in the day'. Cautions, warnings, four quarters of play and the shortest mini dresses… luckily Ellie won and was chuffed to get MoM too. Followed by roast pork chez No24, nom nom nom, as H is now away on the boat.

Ans here we are now – tomorrow and Wed are my two days at the Royal Free so keeping fingers crossed that I get a 'not amyloid' result by the end of Wed. That would def help… x
