Thought you might like to see what goes in 'for breakfast' today, before the just-as-exciting bowl of Fruit & Fibre..
Yum, yum, yummedy-yum hey? Although the irony of the steroids (the pile of 10 small ones) is that I do now get these strange days of two halves – the day bit and the up-all-night bit. I am still working out how to occupy myself at night (watched my first episode of EastEnders in about 20 years on I-Player at one point, things were getting a touch desperate..) but it kind of goes okay when you lie there in the dark, stroking whichever of the animals is in reach, as well as play for hours on the iPad, and of course online shop. Just the one fleece, some stuff for Mum, and some Fybogel – yes, you can guess what one of the less pleasurable side effects of the treatment is!. I went down at 3am to sort of get a cup of tea but also to nick Scrumpy from Mr H's sleepy clutches in the spare room – tee hee hee. She does give good cuddles and managed not to fart at me – unusually fragrant dog.
Have got a busy day again today
- nip to Post Office to return some of my less successful online shopping
- contact lens check and time to get glasses updated shortly
- cheeky lunch with David Rea in Wimbers
- then seeing the chest consultant Charlotte Rayner (with kind J in tow) to see if she has any inspiration on the chest/ breathlessness/ heart issues. All feels a tad unlikely given that the uber-specialist at St George's thinks its Myeloma (and Prof in contrast thinks its unlikely although vaguely possible to improve via treatment) so am bloody hoping she might have SOMETHING up her sleeve as an option. You do just wonder if there is a pack of pills sitting on a pharmacy shelf somewhere that could change everything, but no-one has as yet thought to prescribe them… My wishful thinking anyway.
- Dog walk to keep the beast from destroying the house
- Meeting with 'Paddy the Pain Man' at 5.30pm – my main aim is to get something that can keep the horrid dragging back gripes at bay – I have every type of anti-pain patch you stick on your skin through to general paracetamol and diazepam but none of it works – will see what I can wheedle out of him today…
- And finally, Helen Tebay & Helen Vickery are popping over tonight for a spot of roast chicken (one of my faves!) so will be good to catch up with both the mad and less mad one later.
So, the usual mix of hospital shenanigans and social stuff – actually, rather a good social day, hurrah!
And am nearly at the end of the first 2 weeks of the cycle, so next week there is no 'official' hospital stuff (dangerous words!) and I can play a bit more if anyone is free. x
