How lovely was it when the sun came out properly for Easter? So nice that the hubby and I got the sun loungers out, stripped off a few layers (sorry neighbours) and even dug out Scrumpy's paddling pool so she could dunk her tennis ball and sit and pant in comfort..
And of course, what a perfect opportunity to knock up some holiday-style cocktails. Top tip from Jane re the watermelon martini, frozen then blended, bloody delicious and you can kid yourself you're having one of your five a day.. Followed the next day by some pina coladas, specially presented in our Soggy Dollar Bar plastic cups. Got us both wondering when the hell we might ever make it back to the BVI's, as that's the fantastic beach bar that you swim to from your boat – hence the name as when you pay for your drinks with wet money, they just peg it on a washing line to dry in the sun.. Sigh.
Only kick in the teeth was the Travel section of the Sunday Times – cover resplendent with the exact canyon in Utah where Janine & I were due to spend our June US week away this year – looks like the paper is the closest we'll be getting to that, sadly..
And this week's thanks go to Clare G for the weekly food delivery – plus a top up couple of bags of salad (I know..) from her daughter Emily who lives nearby. And a bonus drive by cake drop off yesterday from Margo and the kids… little Emmy was looking a bit tragic that Mummy was handing over what seemed to be an excessively large amount of cake in her eyes, with special Mini Eggs embedded in it, but was reassured that there was plenty left for her back at home..
So here we are, halfway through Week 5 of staying in.
Keep going guys, it sucks big time, but that's just the way it is for now. More booze may just be the answer.. x
