I continue to live vicariously through the high level performances of others these days…
Went with Rob & Anita from next door to watch their younger daughter, Charlotte, perform for – probably the last time as she is focusing on other talents – in the 40the Anniversary performance of the National Youth Choir at the Royal Albert Hall.
Mr H was supposed to be with me, but had managed to sneak off to Ashely-s boat for – yes, another – impromptu week away.
So I sat on my tod, coughing my perennial April cough as discreetly as possible into my bottle of water and popping multiple throat sweets, while about 300 young people from 9-25 years knocked out a range of tunes, from the upbeat and vaguely groovy to a couple of highly technical numbers with rather a touch of dirge about them.
No mean feat getting 100 kids a time onto stage and off again for the different tunes and subsections of the choir – though they did rather cock up at the end of the night returning the kids to the right set of parents – poor Anita and Rob were still there for quite some time after I left, to release Maddie from the utility room!
An unusual eve and part of my 'accept invites when they come along' efforts. A good job Charlotte is quite tall and has ginger hair – back row of the front section, in the middle – it made spotting her among the hordes of youngies in black somewhat easier!! x
