SO – here is the balls-out fabulously brilliant 'clarification' of my results yesterday.
Well worth waiting 24 worried hours for – NOT – but I thought I'd share it as an example of how super fucking unhelpful obscure and bizarre the sort of medical myeloma shit I get sent is!
“Known IgG Kappa paraprotein – minimal increase in concentration. 3g/L
Immunofixation confirms the IgG Kappa Bence Jones protein and there is also a terrace of retained Kappa Bence Jones Protein which we have seen before and it is too small to quantify”.
Ah – now I know what they mean! As if. And given that Prof says he doesn't track Bence Jones in my case as mine (like 50% of patients so he says) goes up and down like a bulimic's weight chart and is therefore a useless indicator, I have no idea why it's even worth mentioning.
Anyway – it's a fly in the ointment, a shock yesterday but today just a new number that I now have to live with till it changes again. I've always preferred 2, even numbers are so much more 'right' somehow and three as they say is a crowd. But 3, hey it's less than 5, only one digit still and rhymes with wee, so not all bad x
