As the title suggests, we had the 5 members of the White family out to join us in Chiclana this week.

It was a very windy week, so we commuted our planned game of pickleball at the local club to an impromptu match down the side of the house, slightly more protected from the wind. The one and only game of mini padel tennis lasted about 5 minutes before the ball was on the roof!
At least it was lovely and hot still – possibly less so than the UK in its heatwave so the breeze, pool and sea were definitely assets.

Also played various card games together – I’m always amazed when people can remember more than one game, H and I stick to a version of gin rummy on our holidays away (unless we’re with Dav & Mands and the Uno comes out.) Good to see the family dynamic in play, turns out Emma is a good liar when playing Cheat…

Abi was a water baby doing lengths up and down our little pool somehow, and the new lilo luckily survived being leaped on multiple times..

Oliver was a superstar, doing his A level revision in the mornings then appearing for lunch and helping H with the BBQ. And yes, he is a tall lad!

Managed to squeeze in an adults-only sherry tasting at one of the local bodegas, with me of course driving – I still can’t stand the stuff. Just the 5 large glasses each, all necked in half an hour as the chap was rather keen to shut up shop..

And we made it to the beach a couple of times – even breaking one pole of the wind break in the mega wind gusts. And the Whites headed to the local beach for a swim when H & I were stocking up at the market for Banners, incoming the next day as we headed back to Seville.

Of course also squeezing in a few beers at the Che bar and some fizz on the front, plus some of the excellent Emozioni ice cream after a very nice dinner out together. A really good chance to spend some time together – and not long now till C&J have much more freedom, as they retire at the end off the summer term – hurrah!
xx
