Blimey, it's been a busy old start to the year in terms of hospital appointments. What a joy!
In the last 9 days I have had:
- Chemo & immunotherapy, plus the first appointment of the year with Prof & Linda
- A PET CT scan (every 6 months, part of more detailed checks on the stage of the disease, this one was clear – massive hurrah)
- Chemo 2, the usual dose of just Velcade
- An MRI on my sternum, as I've had an odd pain there for quite a long time now, but which has got worse recently. Worrying as its right where I have the permanent tiny tattoo from when I had radiotherapy on a tumour years ago – very much hoping that the two things aren't connected. The positive PET CT results are hopefully suggesting not)
- My bone marrow biopsy, also an every 6 months thing, done last night under general. Currently got a sore rear hip from that, but it will go in the next few days
- Chemo 3 – in fact am sitting at CCL waiting for this right now. Bring on that Velcade so I can escape and go to lunch with Pam.
- Last of all – so far – I have got an appt with the rheumatology expert Hugh Jones this Friday, in case the sternum is something that falls under his expertise, such as costo-chondritis (inflamed chest).
So – a particularly busy 10 days! Which I have to keep in mind when (deeply annoying) people casually say 'well, what do you do with your time now you only work very part time?' Yup – this is my 'other' job…. As well as lots of fun stuff, to be fair, just this is of course the poxy priority.
Anyway – hopefully Hugh will come up trumps with an explanation re the chest pain and I might actually sign up to the boot camp class in the park that I've had my eye on for a while… We will see! x
