Well, it gives me great pleasure to have squeezed yet another celebration out, for my 50th birthday – which was, ooh what, nearly 9 months ago now?
Popped down to near Winchester with Helen V and Helen T (my two great uni chums) to celebrate our combined 150th birthdays, Helen V having had hers in May and Helen T with hers still, rudely, yet to come next month.
Started off with a few hours in a little pottery studio, making bowls in various degrees and angles of roundness. And how apt the apron was for Ms Vickery in particular.. Even she agreed..
Quite remarkably (and with a bit of hand steadying help from the pottery lady) we ended up with 3 handmade items and 1 ready made thing that we painted ourselves. Mine did not go well… so no picture of that one. These will hopefully look much better when they have been through the kiln (or swapped for one of the things the lady sells that she's made..)
And then headed into Winchester for a cuppa and a wander, followed by dinner and the night at Watership Down Inn, a Sawdays property that was much nicer than expected (phew).
Always good to get away and catch up properly. Any other ideas for how to stretch a 50th for a whole year?? x
