Gourmet Weekend

Well, for two people who have just embarked on a 'Hawkes Get Slimmer' campaign, this weekend was our first challenge!

Started with a fab dinner at Swighty and Woodsie's on Fri night. Luckily, Woodsie is a canny chef and rolled out some healthy options, which is why Swighty is looking so fine and trim. Good effort Swighty Wight!!

Hmm, looking art this photo it appears that we only came for drinks and a bowl of salad – and it deffo wasn't quite THAT healthy..

Having woken up feeling in all honesty pretty bloody ropey on Saturday morning – perhaps the beer on the train, the pint and a half in the pub and the G&T before we'd even left home weren't entirely slimming or helpful for the hangover – and no, there was no large cooked breakfast to make us feel better, but instead a low fat egg tortilla – it was thence on to Hatch & Rich's house for a spot of Grand National, dog walk and dinner with them and the lovely Fitz. And YES – I actually managed to bet on the winning horse for once in my life – bring on that £48 when Coral bookies opens up tomorrow. If I have the balls to go back in there..

Nice photo here of elder godson Jack showing Hawksey the photo album of their trip to Costa Rica last year. As he is now 13.5 he is clearly waaaaaaay too old and cool to pose for an actual photo so I had to sneak one from the side. And good move Hatch – nice to see him in the NY Giants t-shirt that we trailed all over NY looking for last November…

Taking of being enormously cool and trendy, here are Rich and Hawksey in their matching middle aged man outfits. You''d think they must have WhatsApp-ed each other before they came. All identical right down to the stripey socks, although apparently Rich has a different style of button on his navy pocket shorts….

Just reheating a low fat chicken casserole and veg now for supper to try and get back on track … bring back the delicious Sunday roast I say. Sigh.. x x
