Foodfest for Fatties

So, I wonder why the weight loss thing is quite so hard… Let's review the weekend's edible entertainment:

Friday night: Supper with Vicki & Tina. A truly valiant effort on their part not to lard me up, though most certainly the first time I have ever been served a rice cake for a starter while everyone else had a newly warmed ciabatta. Fortunately followed by some lovely fish brochettes, but then wrecked by the chocolate cake for Lou's birthday that week. Oh and my inability to stay out of the crisp bowl on arrival – very men tempation and utterly irresistible.

Saturday night: Dinner with James & Dominic in Barnes. No such concessions to wedding dresses under that roof. A true foodfest of smoked mackerel fishcakes (with bread, just to be carbo-load from the off), pork and creamy lentils, roasted offerings from the oven, a highly sneaky cheese course thrown in to double the badness and an utterly delicious panna cotta with raspberries – oh and a cheeky shortbread on the side - leaving me like a beached whale, calorie-stuffed and reeling. My it was good…

Sunday: Sitting here now having got up too late to go to the gym (H is still snoring), with the prospect of taking Mum for lunch and then Ross is coming over to us for a very light roast lamb and trimmings supper. Where surely the cheese won't be making an appearance…. like pigs really do fly.

Got a call from the wedding dress shop to say the dress has just come in – eeek. Must pack some lubricating grease, a hoist and a giant shoehorn when I go down to try it on…..
