Fireworks Night

Well there's been quite a lot of hoohah this year as Merton Useless Council in their very limited wisdom decided to hold the Bonfire & Fireworks Night – without the Bonfire.

Supposedly for 'pollution' reasons – but pretty hard to fathom that one when the park is filled by a crappy funfair and ton of burger stands pumping out grot in every direction. Ooh there's been local uproar, and quite right too. Two fires (the early and late show), once a year, for thousands of people – yep, can't see that being the biggest issue, especially as BBQs are allowed in the park all summer long! Grr.

Anyway – Janine and I nipped along to my old hockey club this year as, again for the first time, Merton decided not to sell tickets on the door, so we didn't think we could get in. Turns out the view at the Club is excellent – and free!

Somehow I only managed to get photos of the fireworks and of Mr H with his giant sparkler, and the jacket spuds he did in our fire chiminea thingy, which certainly turned out a whole lot better than the annihilated chestnuts on a tray did!

Always a good marker of another year survived, to make it to the fireworks. Fingers crossed as ever for a few more x
