So this trip was recommended by James & Dominic and another good call it was too! Its a smaller sound than the better known one, Milford Sound, and is technically a fjord, but I stopped listening about that point..
Anyway – we drove to the pick up, had to take a boat to a middle bit where there was a link-up road, then a coach over the hill to the actual boat we were on for the day and night – The Navigator. In a nutshell, sailed up the sound itself, down various offshoot waterways called 'arms', stopped for a bit at the fur seals colony on the rocks and then out onto the Tasman Sea – luckily not for too long as the Chinese guests were turning green, so we sailed back into the calmer sound. Got off onto a smaller boat for a while, to poodle round the bay – the kayak option involved real 'getting into the boat' little canoes this time, so we had to go with the oldies in the tin bateau instead.
Hugely lucky with the weather – apparently its often raining but we had lovely sunshine, and the next morning there were brilliant reflections on the water. Kept me very entertained taking pictures, which made up for the fact that the dolphins has buggered off and were nowhere to be seen.

Couldn't resist a selfie or two – aren't we gorgeous – not.
And when H started seeing images of Scrumpy's face in the rocks, woolly ears and all, it was definitely time to get off and head to the next place. She looks a bit mad here…
Only a few activities to go and we'll be heading home soon. 'Sounds' good to me x
