Got down to Trebetherick in Cornwall last Friday for a whirlwind week with Mr H, Jules & Nicky and Banners and Ashley. Also had Sophie & Jane though just for an all too short weekend – think they found it rather hard to peel themselves away back to an RAF course/work given the really nice weather and the spankingly nice house we were in!
Managed a week of some activity and a vast amount of eating & drinking (god knows how we are going to do it again, when David & Mandy arrive in an hour's time for a second week with us!).
We did at least do some walking – not that my crap ankles thanked me for it, cue limping into the shops like a cripple every time we needed some food bits – up over the cliffs, admiring the great sea views. Scrumpy is def unimpressed by the views and more keen on the actuality of dragging us into the water with her, utterly desperate to feel salty waves on her fur.
And managed to spend the one rather drizzly day in useful fashion, out on a deep sea fishing boat. Luckily, flat calm despite the average weather, and between us we caught a lot (well, ok, not Nicky!). I managed a decent sized pollock, a gurnard and a horse mackerel – all of which went into the next night's dinner. Bloody lovely.
But the beach, oh the beach – how amazing to feel proper sun on your skin, even if it was mostly covered by an overly tight wetsuit. Really enjoyed surfing – apparently its been totally crap through all of July & August and we managed to be here for the first decent waves in ages. Hurrah! All rather envying H and his mini surf fins which help him catch ten times more waves than anyone else. (Banners and his water ear plugs, less desirable!)
We cooked in most nights, made pasties one night, cycled the Camel Trail and enjoyed the hot tub A LOT. Great outdoor space, overlooking Daymer Bay and St Enodoc golf course.
A right treat, here's to a great week with D&M – 9 hours from Harrogate, I hope we can make it worth it for them!
