No – not the blokes but actually the women's match yesterday afternoon at King's Meadow in New Malden. Not quite as glamorous perhaps but plenty of heart and soul, some crunching tackles, plenty of grit & determination, a lot of very impressive muscles and fitness on show – and luckily a 1-0 win to Chelsea, as we were very kindly hosted by Nicky, who now works with Emma Hayes the women's football coach at CWFC.
All kicking off with a handy parking space and some nosh in the Director's Box as Janine & Ross and I hooked up with Sophie & Nicky for some catching up – and of course lots of chat about the footy (maybe not so much…!)
Still, if you fancy a sporting afternoon that doesn't cost on arm and a leg, where you get great seats and can literally see the sweat glinting on the players in the early Spring sunshine, and a game that is definitely well on the up & up these days, then top level women's footy is worth a viewing. Big thanks to Nicky for sorting it all out, much appreciated x x
