Well, rumour has it among the wine-drinking community that chocolate goes with wine – and that was the theme at Pam & Jude's Hannibal Brown wine tasting event last night.
Mr H & Jules as ever manning the bar (basically drinking Pam's profits), Woodsie & me, with a late Swight addition, woman-ing the door and sales, and P&J doing their usual mastery of the room, juggling wine descriptions with giving the shy chocolate lady a chance to mumble about why her choc is so good (and it was – she just needs to brush up on her patter).
I rapidly worked out that there IS a limit to the amount of choc you can eat on an empty stomach (that would rather have had the sausage roll I somehow managed to walk by at Clapham Junction on my way there). It's about 23 pieces – urgh. Colombian, Ecuadorian, dark, caramel, filled and plain – it's back to crisps for me.
Still, hopefully a good start to Hannibal's Christmas run up of sales – if anyone wants to come to their main event on 30th Nov in Colliers Wood at a quirky charity place, let me know – the more the merrier. (I'll be bringing gin)
