Birthday Week (Fortnight?!) Beginneth

And so it begins…. vicious rumour has it that my 54th birthday is impending. Eeeeeek!

So started with lunch yesterday, with 'the Helens' – Tebay and Vickery – down in HT's neck of the woods, Sevenoaks, as she was technically on call with her school. Ms Vickery happily already on half term and relishing the few days of relative peace before her girls would also be off too.

Love those girls – 35ish years (oh god, I had to check that, how can the number be so high?!) and we're still firm chums.

Maddie was a bit of a pain during lunch – unsettled, chewing the wooden chair crossbar) – which was partly explained at the end by her legging it for the grass of the pub garden, where she laid hugely and strangely lengthy poo. Which on closer inspection – as dog mummies must – seemed to be bizarrely fabric-like….

At which point I recognised my striped sock, that she has clearly chewed, swallowed and now pooped out. Not good for her and super gross. Thank god she waited till she was outside!!! (Memories of Scrumpy releasing what was thence called 'the caramel lake' in a busy Fulham foodies pub years ago when she had a dicky tummy… horror show!)

Anyway – back to the girls. Came home with lots of laughs, a great catch up, two sets of flowers and two prezzie bags, felt very spoiled.

And only a few hours later I was back out and heading into town for cocktails and dinner with the AV5. Went to the newly opened branch of Casa do Frango in Heddon St. Has a great bar (definition these days – squidgy booth seating, you can hear yourself speak, very good cocktails, nice staff, decent loos, lovely decor) downstairs – the Green Room – and then headed up for supper.

The starters were far and away the winners of the eve – we had every single one on the list! The salt cod fritters nearly didn't make it onto the order but were revived by Jane & Sarah – a full house of every item! Amazed we still had room for the chicken ..
