Birthday Tea for Jo

It seems that 2022 is a big birthday year for both the older ladies whom I visit – having hosted Maureen for an 85th birthday supper of fish & chips in July, last week heralded Jo's turn – just a whippersnapper turning 75 though.

Jo's choice for a birthday 'thing' was – amusingly – a lunch of egg mayo sandwiches (having tried them at the oldies tea I hosted with Janine some time ago, they have clearly stuck in her head!), followed by scones. To be made without raisins and to be served with strawberry jam. And cream, of course..

I think she was chuffed to find I'd popped up some decorations and had got her some prezzies. You might spot the poppies theme – her favourite flower. Her flat has lots of these around – pictures, ceramic poppies in vases etc – so I thought I'd add to the haul with a poppy glass bauble thingy on a metal support and some poppy tea lights to go in it. And the card – nice one Amazon for having the 75 years and poppy picture combo!

I did somehow manage to order two of the cards (?!) and also forgot to put the 7 and 5 candles into her scones, so if anyone can use them, let me know!

She managed 2 scones (of course I matched her) and I got a very sweet hand written card to thank me – makes everything worthwhile…
