SO lovely to be home – it was a good trip overall, but the bloody back problems really took the shine off it for me (and for H).
Sitting back in the lap of reality now – today is my full day of Dara at Parkside/CCL. Have seen Prof, nothing to report so am now just waiting for my highlight of the day, the tuna jacket potato to arrive.
Tomorrow I'm seeing one of the two back consultants, to ask him more questions about my back spasms and to pretty much beg, yet again, for him to find something that helps. For it to have 'gone' three times in 9 months now – each time taking 4-6 long weeks of very careful and (in the first two weeks each time) horribly painful recovery, is getting ridiculous.
And Thursday then heralds my first visit to the supposedly very good physio, to advise re exercise and pilates. Makes me laugh as by the time I get down onto the floor to do anything on a mat, the rest of any group will have long moved onto the next exercise. I can't even think about lifting one leg off the floor when flat on my back – but maybe there will be a way that this can help strengthen my back and stop these spasm attacks from continuing to happen.
Next week its back consultant No.2 who is due to take the metalwork out of my back in early March. I'm planning to ask both fo them what the odds are of that making any positive impression on my back situation – then I can compare both the horrified looks their faces as well as the odds they give me..
Sorry to bang on about it, but it is SUCH a pisser having endless, continued back pain. My first walk with Scrumpy yesterday on the common was, instead of being a lovely reunion, a case of me stumbling along wondering how far I could get before it got too miserably sore to keep going. And that's despite being strapped into my back support… Arrrrrssssseeee.
So I can do stuff but its having pain with you every step of the way that is such a drag. It's of varying intensity but is never far away, the little sod. So here's hoping that the back boys come up with something, anything, that can help as I am bogged off with feeling so sore all the time.
I just want my old good working back, back. Has anybody seen it?
