Back into the Social Whirl

Wow – what a lovely busy week catching up with people post Spain. Started off with a trip to see a NT Theatre Live performance of A Streetcar Named Desire at the very posh & comfy Everyman Cinema in Esher.

With Curly, Jane & Sarah – and Curly had brilliantly prepped some bento boxes of lunch for each of us as it was a 12.30 start. It turned out to be a rather full on – and long! 0 show, leading to the slightly shellshocked mumblings of  'shall we just and see a comedy next time?' but a good trip out (apart from Curls' parking ticket, sigh)..

Then it was out to see London Road at the National with J&R – in all honesty, not as good as the reviews would have you think, as I'm not sure I'm a lover of the turn-spoken-sentences-into-songs-with-a-vague-atonal-tune approach to musicals. But at least I hadn't already seen it – it was on about 10 years ago and I had a weird feeling that I'd already been. Or perhaps I did and I just can't remember anything any more! Quite liked this big Paddington mural as I walked from Waterloo though…

Back into town on Thursday eve for Sarah's rather early birthday night out – kicking off with some very good drinks at Quill, off Borough Market, lovely to be sitting out in the sunshine. It's right next to a very handily located Premier Inn, sparking the same chat as last time 'I'd love to stay there overnight, if I didn't already live in London'! And from there we headed on to Applebees, a fish restaurant. Sarah's choice as she loves fish but Paul is now allergic to all things piscine, so when she's out without him, fish wins the day.

Plus various other nice bits of social from a dog walk with Janine, a trip to Lidl with my older lady Jo and tea with Maureen to an 8am glass of water in my pyjamas still with my chum Moonie, whose MRI at St George's was cancelled, so she appeared very early!

Lovely to be back in our home, and H and I even had time to sit on the sofas at the bottom of the garden with a cuppa, really really nice…

And just like buses, somehow having not seen Sarah in ages, we then had a third meeting in just the one week! This time round at her home in Walton, plus the hubbies, who get on very well. A perfect mix of sitting in the garden, taking shelter from the thunderstorm over main course, and back out again for a drink. The only downside was Maddie's bottom – H took her to see his chum Ian on Wed eve, and – not weird at all – they ended up shearing a sheep, as Ian's village permits locals to keep 2-3 sheep on the green. Maddie was clearly filling her time eating a mountain of sheep poo – as the endless bursts of stench emanating from her ALL evening attested to. Rancid dog! But still a lovely eve and we can only apologise for our niffy fur beast.
