Our glass making efforts from last week finally turned up today – and, amazingly, no sound of rattling pieces from the box as we unwrapped it.
I think H's overall came out slightly better, though it's still a minor miracle that we actually made all those bits in our 6 hour session, including a stop for the kiln-fired pizza lunch! His is the vase, mine the glass replete with the 'marbles' we first practised making. And his is the blue paper weight, mine the green – a bit more sludgy and less vibrant lime than I was hoping for, but when its all red hot you can't tell what the heck you're making.. And yes, we should probably have used more 'bits' (technical term, not) in the baubles but again, that's the wonder of hindsight..
The baubles are now on our tree – bloody precarious given that they weight loads more than the shop-bought ones, and the tree is already slightly wilting, with still a week to go to Xmas..
And the rest are being moved around different places to see where they look best (ie the least shit).
Watch out for a lump of misshapen glass near you, the next time you pop round x
