I just LOVE a night away at a nobby hotel – especially when the house was still so filthy and unliveable-in. And thanks to Added Value, I was in possession of a very nice 20th anniversary voucher for Chewton Glen, so off went Janine & I to avail ourselves of their delights.
First massive bonus – an upgrade to a huge room, what a result. Seems they were painting their bottom end rooms the next morning – marvellous bit of good timing. Slightly weirdly, it was painted exactly the colour we've just done our guest room and my office, and there were some lamps and side tables that look suspiciously like the ones we're about to order… Who's stalking who??
Tucked into the freebie champers on our terrace with the sparkly Xmas lights in the trees behind us – niiiiiice.
All very festive – spent the afternoon in the spa (apparently my side-of-pool-sunbed snoring wasn't too bad, although I did seem to wake up with no-one else anywhere near me..)
And we had a cracking dinner – slightly eye-watering prices (but it did make having a couple of cocktails in Bermondsey last night, before the Alumni drinks seem like a total bargain by comparison!)
Ah, there it is – the obligatory berry caipirinia – bloody delicious. Might just have to choke back a few more of those over Christmas, well, someone has to ..
