A Lovely Social Week – At Last!

It's slowly, slowly starting to feel a bit more normal. (Well, as long as I switch off the rather large part of my brain that keeps asking when I'm getting on a plane and going somewhere warm and different…)

Had a pretty good week, including luring Mark & Charlie down from North London to the SW19 burbs for supper. Charlie about to do a 10 day pop up art store showcasing his work from the next morning, hoping he sells looooooots..

Then round to J&R's for the footy semi-final on Wed, with Stewart & Helen Macintosh. We were all meant to be on a posh boat in Paddington, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, but it turned into footy & a curry instead – and a WIN!

And then on to the second trip to Wimbers tennis in 10 days – this time for the Mens Semi-Finals on Centre Court – whoop whoop! Bit of a shame that Roger F had been knocked out, but we did score a particularly good game between Berettini and the Polish fella, then Djokovic being given a closest run by Shapovalov. Janine even sported a dress – hardly recognised her, tee hee…

Saw Mikey & Margo yesterday with the kids – went to a huge play zone in Battersea Park, bloody terrifying environment for a non-sprogger like me. Hundreds of small people everywhere.. Emmy now in the 'I can do it by myself' phase – very grown up! Interesting observing the playground etiquette of who goes on what and kids apologising for whacking into the one in front of them, as well as Margo having to shin up the inside of some huge slide steps to accompany Emmy to the top – and then get back down herself. Good job I was on holding the ice cream duty. On which subject I managed to drop my ice cream straight off the cone with seconds – much to Scrumpy's great delight as she hoovered it off the floor – first time I think I have ever done that in my life – very disappointing!

Then M&M came back here for a chicken BBQ supper, some garden spuds and my now ubiquitous broccoli salad.. think I might go back to my lentil one next time, am slightly broccoli-ed out…

And of course – tonight is THE BIG NIGHT – H has various of the boys and Nicky coming with Jules, popping round to watch the England final. Come on the boys!!!! Will the dream survive or be shattered???? Here's hoping for once we come good and football does come home.
