Blimey. Today I have not only selected and booked a vegetarian restaurant for lunch, I have actually managed to go and eat there – and not actually miss ma beloved chicken (too much).
Met up with Cato (ex AV amazeballs bird) who is a meat-free kind of gal at Vanilla Black off Chancery Lane. Apparently the only veg restaurant in London in the Michelin Guide – somewhat glacial atmosphere on arrival but it perked up when the other meat-dodgers shuffled their leather-free footwear over the doorstep..
Managed to avoid the brie ice cream she was having as a starter to instead try the soup with weird extra bits in it … which great until Cato spotted that the three little cones in it 'look like fairy nipples'. Ugh – she was spot on.
Mains were equally off the wall but actually very good – nothing like getting a plate where you have no idea what the hell anything is that's on it – but there you go, the meat-loving Scotty has 'gone veg' for the day and survived to tell the tale.
Bloody hope there's some snorty, ground-pawing animal for my dinner tonight….
