Aces Hockey Birds on Tour

Did we manage to get our act together to book an overseas hockey tour?

Did we kiss ass and find ourselves at one of the big UK tours instead?

Did we bollocks – which is why we just about managed to get 16 of us to a one night tour in Chichester instead!

One of our former players now lives there, so we scooted off in the glorious Mid May sun (bloody lucky as I'd bought the team pink and blue Aces-coloured sunglasses to wear all weekend) for a one-game-only-thank-god-as-we're-quite-old mini tour. (My neck and back were gypping me, which is why I wasn't playing and am sporting an overly-warm Aces fleece..)

Needless to say, the bright day descended into evil darkness as we had Pimms and Gin-fuelled teas (beats a cup of tea any day) and then headed off to one of the Chichester players' pubs to drink her bar dry. Oh, and ingest an obscene number of shots in innocuous little coloured plastic glasses…. Mmmm, thanks Jude.

Somehow everyone managed to get up on Sunday (just one 'morning after the night before' bout of vomming from our goalie Vicks, good effort) – to play mini Jungle golf. And thence on to a pub for a cracking roast (I had salad – nice but not a touch on pork crackling – and still no chance I will look nice in a bikini when we go off on hols this Friday..)

It may not have been Holland or Spain – but well worth the planning, a bon weekend x
