Had what was – bizarrely, given the crappy circumstances – a really great cup of tea and long natter with the lovely Ellie Sellar this week at Kew Gardens. One of the Added Value younger gang who is a total delight. She got married April and had been feeling crap for a bit – and was then finally diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma on her return from their brief honeymoon.
Never would have imagined myself being an experienced listening ear and source of suggestions for a fellow cancer bod, but here we both are. To look at us, you'd never think either of us had a health care in the world – well, maybe apart from Ellie's rather natty turban. Much better than my head-covering efforts, it was most impressive.
Was great to see her, such a smart, bubbly, bright, funny, warm chick, and here's to her absolutely being one of the 80%+ who get through and walk away from it forever.
For me it was however another one of those wry ironic times when I wish – fuck, I wish I had what she's got – when you yet again realise this is one of the few worlds where 'oneupmanship' is clearly totally the wrong way to go! 'My one's more spectacular than your one' is something I desperately wish I couldn't honestly say..
Hey ho – Prof results this quarter were again a touch lower, so we keep on trucking for another few months and see which way the wind is blowing.
Good on you Ellie – here's to being firmly in the 80% x

She’s looking great! If anyone can rock a headscarf I’d’ve thought it would be her. Glad you could be of help, and even more glad scores are nice and stable…. see you again soon poppet xxx
Good on you scoring less again – will continue crossing my fingers and toes that you continue well on the way to becoming the Pointless champion as far as Prof’s concerned.
