Much Better Day Today

Ha – total opposite to yesterday, all down to me taking the 10 steroid tablets that are part of the chemo routine as well as one small but very powerful 'mega steroid' tab that Prof has prescribed to see if it might get some of my inflammation under control.

Result? I have been an active girl all day, chatting and gabbling like a bipolar bod on their 'up' day. Steroids turn you nutty.

Have had a totally ludicrous scan on my abdomen (yes virtually the only place on my entire body that doesn't hurt in any way, but mine not to reason why, just to lie there going 'breathe in…. hold your breath.. breathe normally') for an hour today. Then a 'walking oxygen test' with the physio lady to see if I can walk further/more easily with or without oxygen – but as usual the scores were so counter-intuitive (i.e. did 'better' with no oxygen and also managed to walk quite a way with no trouble at all – SO annoying when on every other day I am in such schtuck – and can never replicate it for anyone with a nurses uniform on – grrr!)

Eventually escaped and had v nice cup of tea and half a scotch egg with some lardy pie that Janine had liberated from Borough Market – yum, yum, yum. Good effort Mrs Capon.

Told her the delightful story of how Scrumpy has learned to steal from the coffee table – and managed to get the lid off the easter egg box that James and Dominic had so kindly sent from NZ (via M&S) – and had scoffed loads of the not-good-for-dogs choc eggs while I was out yesterday.

Thank God for small mercies – Mr H was the first person down this morning at 6am (it has been me on every single day I think for the last 2 months, as I am always awake – but not today tee hee) – and was greeted by 20 piles of dog poo across the kitchen with some sparkling egg wrap glinting cheekily through… lots of Daddy clearing up required, before tea was made (I do hope he washed his hands before he then made the tea..)

No more leaving things on that table for us – she is a complete shameless thief. Her furriness even had a go at a parcel with 4 pairs of new pants in it for me that got delivered today – got right through to the final layer of wrap before she was caught. I hate think how many of those she would have noshed if I had;t spotted her in time… That darn dawg…. Bleddy well eats anything, food or not.

So while today was good, I am now bricking it about this bloody right heart catheterisation tomorrow – I'll have a word about the inadequate local anaesthetic last time and hope to hell they whack some more in, so I don't bawl all the way through this one, like I did with the angiogram.

Here's hoping…. ever the optimist but it does take a bit of a bashing these days…

Will let you know how it goes – and more importantly. if we hear anything significant from either the bone biopsy last week or this nasty test tomorrow, that can point us in a definite direction (beyond the one marked 'Insanity Lies This Way, You Fat Knacker' that I am currently following..)

Here's to some very small neck tubes and an awful lot of anaesthetic… fingers crossed x
