The Sunday Update

Well hats off to Charlotte the lungs consultant who appeared this morning to review me as if Sunday was just another working day in the week – that is impressive dedication.
And who then released me from HDU onto the third floor, so I am now residing in room 301, which is very spookily the exact room I had my stem cell transplant in, 7 years ago. It has been done up since then, and has a big reclining chair for H to play with and get his hungover feet stretched out on, but still feels weirdly familiar… Well, you don't forget stuff like that in a hurry.
No new big things to report today, just the now-usual piles of drugs and IV tubes and being dragged up and down small flights of stairs by the rehab physios and being reminded to gargle the mouthwash 4 times a day in between the nebulisers, nose squirt and new 'mouthpiece suck' toy that got added to the treatment list today, ooh it's all go here. I am certainly feeling and looking a whole lot better so that's nice to be able to report.
Sunday is obviously THE day to go 'visiting the sick' as I've had a stream of people popping by and had to say 'thank you but I can't manage any more' to various other kind offers.
So good job to the entire Nurse clan who appeared (hungover) first thing. Then the 2 Helens who brought a particularly niffy picnic lunch with them (where better to enjoy your M&S lunch on a sunny day than a Parkside room?).
Followed by Mikey & Margo and topped off unexpectedly with Sarah & Paul Taylor on a detour back from Deal. I'm bloody knackered now, which is exactly what's needed for a good sleep tonight I reckon.
Mr H brought Scrumpy to the hospital steps this afternoon so Mummy could toddle down and scratch her head (that filthy wet dog body was getting no closer to my last pair of clean pyjama bottoms) and sniff the heady scent of the outdoors and freedom – before being the only sad sod who then had to go back inside and take the lift up to her little prison, boo bloody hoo.
Still very much hoping that escape will be mine tomorrow or Tues, will find out more tomorrow when it's more business as usual here. In the meantime, it was asparagus risotto for dinner in case you were wondering and I'm off to do justice to the Sunday paper – one upside of having time and few other options!
Sleep well all, S x x
