How long have we all waited for this weekend – THE SUN WAS OUT!!!!!!
Just so good to feel well and be at one of my favourite places – J&R's cottage. First time to sit out and have dinner a la fire pit in the garden, right till my eyelids started dropping at 10pm and my kind husband took to squirting me with the dog's water gun to keep me awake.
Also had a crack at using my Xmas voucher for a half day's fly fishing at Chalk Springs – although just as per my first go at this in October, the trout spent three and a half hours pissing themselves laughing at my vain attempts to extract them from their very comfortable lake. Not a bloody bite to be had…
The instructor was Brian – a vision in camo gear and khaki – and despite changing my flies (so to speak) several times there was not a fishy to add to our little dishy to take home with us. Main learning as a bit of a chubster – never stand in the foreground for the 'action shot' photo with a slim Capon behind you… Ah well, at least the sun was out and the flapjack bites were gooooooood.
Good start to this morning – headed down to Climping Beach to walk the dogs – Flossie's first successful efforts at chasing a ball and retrieving it, good little black furball. Poor Scrumpy has – yet again – managed to hurt one of her back paws, so the sight of H carrying her down over the sharp pebbles to the soft sand was a sweet one – you try corralling a struggling Spaniel who just wants to run.. Anyway – 25 degrees at 10am, you can't beat it.
Weirdly, my hair has got two shades lighter from sitting out in the sun this weekend – and gained a very natty cockatoo look down on the beach, but hey, I lost my pride years back, so here we all are, beach beautiful if not totally buff x
