Nice bits in a busy week

How typical – having had limited dribs and drabs of Kantar work for sooooooo long, it all came in a massive deluge over the past 2-3 weeks and is set to continue till we head off to Spain in – eeeeeekkkk!!! – 4 weeks' time. So, trying to get my head down and get that written in every patch of spare time I have at the moment.

ut of course – still managing to fit in as much nice stuff as possible, and as ever, it's all quite random and varied!! Went to see Sarah Millican the comic at Hammersmith Apollo, with Janine harmfully stepping in for Mr H whose plane was delayed 24 hours coming back from lovingly stroking his boat in Croatia. A good job too probably – the material is definitely more female-skewed and there were quite a few shell-shocked men emerging from the Apollo afterwards!

Sat eve heralded – finally – Curly's entry into the Fab 50s Club, with a really nice 'gals only' dinner at the Hideaway in Suburbiton. Think Curls had a cracking eve, which was fab. So good to see Mercedes, Emma Laney and Amanda H after many a moon – though it as ever presented the quandary about how is Mercedes so damn gorgeous still? Not that we all aren't obvs.. Sat opposite Sarah T and Jane, who kept me entertained in between my bouts of gross spluttering. This bloody 100 Day Cough could really do with sodding off soon.

Then my sis appeared from Holland for a few days. Caught in the trap of 'do I put my house back on the market and maybe get a few more quid as the market has gone up again' vs 'sticking with the current buyer who seems to be stuck trying to get her own lease extension sorted' conundrum. In the meantime Cathy came round for a cocktail and a lamb roast to help the decision-making..

And just this morning I headed up to the Southbank to catch up with my oldest niece Jess and my smallest great-niece (why does that always make me feel utterly ancient??) little Polly. Played a good game of 'restaurant orders' on the wooden raised platform with little miss Pollypops, followed by a cuppa and good old natter with Jess. Brilliant that she has managed to wangle 6 weeks off from her job in the summer, including renting a great-looking place in Spain for a month, to spend time with her girls before Polly starts pre-school in September.

With a very good weekend coming up, what's not to love? x
