From Rheumatology to Mini Eggs

Bloody hell, did anyone see the giant angry horse that kicked me in the back yesterday? Me neither, but the post biopsy pain is damn similar to a good shoeing … am glugging Oxynorm from my handbag like a lush, have just replaced my pain patch and am eying the sub-lingual Fentanyl tablets with intent… major ouch.

Just checking Uber availability as got to go see this new rheumatologist at 9.20am. There's a new feature where Uber suggests your 'favourite' destinations so you can quick click on one. Wry amusement that mine were Parkside or Heathrow. Wonder which one I'd much rather be heading for, sigh….

Just seen rheumatologist- appears I also have severe bursitis in both of my hips. He poked them, they hurt, scan shows inflammation, 2 injections administered, can't say I'd even noticed… another random notch on the health bedpost, whatever.

I carried on bleating to him about the much more crucial back pain – have now been given a huge amount of steroids to take. Fat face, hunger and sleeplessness – possibly with a nice energy uplift – here I come again. Got to see him for follow up in 10 days. Must ring BUPA yet again…

Now sitting waiting for Prof back at CCL. Wishing had brought an 'indoor hat' as well as the woolly outdoor one I've got on. Ironic that it still feels odd to have a bare head even in the CCL waiting room, which of all places you'd think would be a bald person's safety zone. But not many people are actually missing their hair – I'm the only one right now – so you still feel a bit 'naked in public' without a head covering.

Just seen Prof – my how fun this morning is, a regular rollercoaster ride of 'who's going to diagnose what and prescribe which crappy drugs in case they help'. Have got a week of steroids, antibiotics, couple of side effects drugs and a wait for the biopsy results – see Prof again next Wed.

Went home and tucked into a half bag of Onion Rings (Co-op ones not as good as Sainsbury's in my professional crisp guru opinion). And a few sneaky Mini Eggs, man those things are gooooood. Looks like most of the appetite is back..

H off out now for a pint with Nurse. I'm toying with us maybe going out for a simple dinner this Sat. Haven't worn jeans or proper clothes since SCT, and have not yet had an alcoholic drink. That definitely needs sorting, cocktail famine shocker. Surely that would help the back? Will gird my boozy loins and see if we can make it happen. X
